Back on Tract is a short puzzle game using RPG Maker VX Ace.  The objective is to grow your vine, tree, etc. up toward the goal, collecting resources and avoiding growing obstacles on the way.  There are only 4 levels, each with a new challenge.  It's experimental in many ways, so give it a try, have a laugh or maybe a good finger-wagging, and let me know what you think!

Gameplay and Controls

Arrow keys to grow your vine.  Each move costs you resources and ages your vine.  Lose all your resources and you lose.  Age too much and competing vines will more easily outgrow you.  Be aware that not all levels are equal in starting resources and age behavior.

Step over resources to collect them, and over the goal vine to connect.

Q to use a character's special ability.

W to take a turn to recover.

Esc/B to restart or quit.

Save menu will pop up at the beginning of each level.

Afterward

I've been using RPG Maker since RPG Maker 95, but this is my first complete, published game.  Most of my time went into developing the puzzle interface with a mixture of player-activated events, parallel processes, and scripts.  I plan on continuing the project, polishing out the oddities, making more levels, more types of challenges and obstacles, more story development, more choices, and more endings.  Comments and support are greatly appreciated.
